Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Genuine Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Raise Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be real Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

However the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when Vicario gave away the ball well beyond his area.

He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario again, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes really angered the manager.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be real Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering after the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind one another going forward."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period performance.

Former top-flight keeper Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' disappointment," Hart continued. "I know the part Vicario is performing. He's a great squad member, he is a true figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Match

Italian international the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

He said after the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I take responsibility for it," he commented.

"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it's hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an simple score for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next longest-range top division score of the season – following Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for a long time," he remarked.

"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the line. When not one of them defended the net, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the right connection and get it on target. I had a good sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground struggles.

The match was their tenth home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and title holders Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a unique story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the criticism," the pundit said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
