A individual accused with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a phone message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has consistently declared she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test during the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One voicemail, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the message continued.

The jury was told that via emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, forwarded youth pictures to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

The investigator, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who collated the data, told the court there "seemed to lack any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On that date, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court learned Mrs Spragg developed a association via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had communicated using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the time preceding the visit to the village, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court heard correspondence between the two individuals, in last November, discussing attempting to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from silverware at a dining venue.

"We have to take action," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their home, the defendant sent a message which said: "We find ourselves sitting outside the McCanns' home with our headlights off like private investigators. I desired to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
